Kendyll & Ben

There’s something special about these two.  It’s not just the fun they have together, or the love they share with each other.  It’s not only the list of incredible experiences they’ve had (and every time I talk with them I hear about one more), or the ease of conversation with them.    It’s an intangible thing, but something babies and small children can immediately recognize.

My youngest has the typical, intense, toddler-shyness around strangers, especially those of the tall, male, adult-type.  However, after sitting across the supper-table from Ben & Kendyll for a meal, she asked to move from her chair into a grown-up lap… but not her mama or daddy’s lap, which is her usual request.  She wanted to go sit with Ben – the male, adult-type she met for (essentially) the first time 45 minutes earlier.  Wow.

Theirs was my first maternity session and one of their comments when I told them that was along the lines of, ‘hey that’s okay, this is our first baby.  Sounds like a good match.’

Kendyll has a picture of her mother doing a self-portrait like this while pregnant with each of her children.  :)

They brought along a few items to personalize their shoot – love it!  I had a lot of fun trying out different ways of incorporating the gorgeous collage of wedding photos.  It’s such an amazing statement… capturing two of the biggest moments in a couple’s life together – their marriage, and their first child – in one image.

The little giraffe is named ‘Daisy’ after a real-life giraffe Kendyll & Ben met while in Africa.  I can’t remember all the details, or the complete story, but I recall them mentioning an up-close and personal experience with the real-life Daisy.  It made them realize giraffes have really, really nice breath.  You’ll have to ask them exactly how they came to discover this unique piece of information.

Blessings to you both as you adjust to life as a family of three.  It’s an incredible ride.
