I’m a wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter… just to name a few.
I love being outside and I love curling up with a good book on the couch with the blanket my Oma crocheted for me.
I love to grow vegetables. I love to eat from my garden and to order pizza from the little shop down the street. I can/freeze/preserve a lot of what I grow… and what other people grow too. I wash the mud and dirt of play out of my kids clothes (because I have to, not so much because I love to), all the while reminding myself of what Oma told me… A child should eat a bucket worth of dirt before their sixth birthday. It keeps them healthy. A wise woman, she is.
I can drive a tractor and crochet a baby hat… though not at the same time.
I love coffee. My favourite moment of the day is first thing in the morning, when I’m awake before anyone else is… before my husband, before my kids, before the chaos and craziness that is life begins. My favourite is before all that, when I can wrap my hands around my mug of fresh coffee,
…and just sit and be.
The superpower I would choose is the ability to fly. To soar.
Music feeds my soul… especially the music of the DaCapo Chamber Choir, who I’ve been privileged to sing with since the beginning. Thank you Len.
My favourite quote these days is by e e cummings: It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are.
I love photography. I love looking back at the pictures of my grandparents when they were young, my parents when they were children, and of my brothers and I when we were growing up. I love having these pictures to show my children, to share the stories of those photos with them. I love capturing the little moments, and the big ones too…but my favourites are the ones when they don’t care that I’m there any more.
